Recap: The Four Ws of Workshop Design Mini-Masterclass

Last Thursday’s Four Ws of Workshop Design mini-masterclass, led by Jacinta Cubis, was not only insightful but also a lot of fun! The session was highly interactive, giving participants a chance to explore the essentials of effective workshop facilitation in an engaging and practical way.

What We Covered:

Jacinta walked us through the Four Ws framework - Why, Who, Where, and What - helping participants design workshops with clear purpose, audience focus, and engaging activities.

Some key takeaways included:

  • Empathy mapping - a technique to center participants’ needs in workshop design.

  • Rainbow highlighting - a method for identifying key themes and insights.

  • Defining clarity - creating a single-sentence workshop purpose using "To + verb."

Interactive, Engaging, and Fun!

The session encouraged participants to reflect on their facilitation experience, engage in breakout discussions, and share insights through structured activities. Attendees drew emojis to represent their thoughts on workshop design, crafted purpose-driven statements, and compared approaches in small groups. There was plenty of laughter and creativity, making the learning experience even more enjoyable!

A Huge Thanks!

A big thank you to Jacinta for her expertise and engaging approach, and to our "winger" Malachi for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. And of course, thanks to everyone who participated and made the discussion both valuable and fun!
